June 2011 Archives

June doesn't wait for anyone!

It's hard for me to believe it's nearly the end of June and the halfway point of 2011. Sometimes I think life is passing me by, and before I know it, I will be Grizzly Adams, sitting in a rocking chair outside my cabin in the woods, wondering where the heck time has gone. Other times it feels like you are riding a bucking bronco, having a great time going up and down, and occasionally getting kicked in the teeth.

This month is no different, and offers experiences all over the map! Daniel and I traveled to Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks way back at Memorial Day. It was a fun weekend getaway and I can't wait for our next one. I took way too many photos, and will post them up when I get a chance. That's about all the traveling I've been able to do lately, and it remains to be seen if I can swing something more elaborate this year.

Work also has been exciting. Never a place to back down from logistic challenges, the Resort managed to host a Pirates premiere, grand openings for the refreshed Star Tours and new Little Mermaid attraction, and Grad Nites. It's been a fun time, and I am really excited about our new offerings. I can't say enough about the new Star Tours and how imagineering really created something that really is amazing and special. I like Mermaid as well, and it really makes me feel like I'm in a classic Disney attraction. It reminds me a lot of Tokyo DisneySea as well for some odd reason. For the first time in awhile, I really enjoy the Soundsational parade. I'm not a big parade person, but I love the music! If this summer is this good, it just makes me more excited for next year.

Not only am I excited about what's happening for the Guests, but also for myself. I've been fortunate to have been selected for a position very near and dear to my heart. Can't really discuss much of it, but I will say I'm very excited for this opportunity! I really feel it's another step forward for me in my career.

The Trip Diaries are calling to me. I just hope I can figure out what the heck I'm going to do. I am determined to get this decade-old issue solved and ready for future trips!!

Tahitian Memories and More

I did a minor refresh to the site today by updating the banner photo that pops up on the majority of the site. As I have said it would be nice to make it more automatic and rotational, but at least now I only have to change one file and it cascades across the site.

I can't believe it's been 10 years since I went to French Polynesia! Looking back on the trip it seems like only yesterday that I made a decision that has forever altered my life. Of course this means my 10 years at Disney is rapidly approaching, another palm to the forehead in disbelief moment.

It high time I change the coding on the trip diaries page since the most recent one is now 10 years old!! Current thinking pushes me to create a third blog on Club Josh for the diaries, and I have been toying with trying a Wordpress blog and see if it's better than MT. Current plan is to try and have all the available Trip Diaries that currently are on the mobile site (1996-2010) on the main web site before the 16th Anniversary this month. Ready? Set? Go!

Stay tuned..
