Getting Out of Town

| | Comments (1)

Since my appearance on The Price is Right, things have really been slow and pretty non-exciting. Not a lot to report, and even the best I can do on Twitter is the occasional tweet here and there.

The next few weeks are shaping up to be interesting, and to get ready, I am ducking out of town to go to San Jose with Tara, Leslie, and Daniel. I had put off the actual decision making for awhile pending my work schedule, but yesterday decided that I needed to get away. Granted, I wish I was taking advantage of the low fares to New Zealand, but I couldn't even afford to get a plane ticket to Northern California. I also wanted to have the time in the car with my own thoughts and enjoying some tunes. It should be a fun quick getaway.

My list of want-to-travel locations is getting rather lengthy and I think I need to start going places. Hopefully the money situation will improve or the Royal Geographic Society starts funding me.

Be sure to follow me on Twitter as I will be micro-blogging during the trip!

In case you missed it and didn't record it, CBS.com has the full episode of me on The Price is Right:

The Price is Right

March was certainly a blase month - except for the Bike Ride to HB and one other gem that I have neglected to post about until today.

Last week, I finally got to see a taping of The Price is Right - something else I have been wanting to do since I moved back to LA 10 years ago. My friend Mandel had been asked to perform on the show demoing a Baby Grand Piano. He then asked if I would like to go to see it as his guest in the VIP section. Turns out, this is the row just behind contestant row, and as a result highly visible on camera! Sadly, I was ineligible to be called to "Come on Down", but it was great to see how they do the show.

I was amazed at how loud it gets in that studio - so much so that they put the contestant names on que cards so that you can see you name since you will never hear it. As most people know the studio is way smaller in person than on TV, but the shear scale of it really surprised me, and now when I watch shows like American Idol, I now know how tiny they really are!

It was a great experience combined with a dinner at Cheesecake Factory at the Grove made for a great evening out. Hopefully I will get a the photo that was taken of us on the TPIR stage soon and I will post it. I will also try and get some video from it from the DVR when it airs.

You can look for me on The Price is Right April 10, 2009. I'm right behind the contestant's and I am wearing this shirt.
